Blue River Foundation Event a Success!

The importance of land management is immeasurable when applying it to the relationship, and health, of the watershed it nourishes. The Blue River Foundation of Oklahoma understands this and, last night, hosted its first watershed management discussion, an event for landowners to enjoy dinner with conservationists and professionals actively working to protect the Arbuckle Simpson Aquifer in southeast Oklahoma.

Keynote speakers in included Justin Baker of Aqua Strategies on watershed restoration planning, Valarie Hannon of USDA- NRCS on funding for conservation planning, and John Weir of OSU Extension on the economics of prescribed fire. Other speakers included Dr. Tim Faltyn, President of Murray State College, Steve Roy, Chairman of the Blue River Foundation, Alan Peoples of the Oka' Institute at East Central University and John Moody of the Blue River Foundation.

This outreach event was in partnership with the Oka' Institute of East Central University, the Chickasaw Nation, and Murray State College.

Congratulations to the Blue River Foundation of Oklahoma Board for a successful and insightful event!

John Moody, Blue River Foundation Program Manager, shares study area for the foundations efforts.
