Oka' The Water Institute At ECU
A goal of the Oka’ Institute is to provide technical assistance to landowners in watershed areas who desire to improve soil health. Within these resources pages, soil health and prescribed burning you will find information, photo, and video to help you with best management practices.
Oklahoma State University Extension
Technical assistance on best management practices with information on various cost-share programs: Oklahoma Cooperative Extension Service fact sheets and other publications provide research-based information on a wide variety of topics including agriculture, economic development, family and consumer sciences, and youth development.
ODWC: Wildlife Habitat Improvement Program (WHIP) The bulk goes toward tech assistance and cost-share for Eastern red cedar control. Deer Management Assistance Program (DMAP), Quail Enhancement Program, fish stocking options.
Technical assistance particularly with prescribed burns and some administration with certain Farm Bill programs such as GRP. The Oaks and Prairies Joint Venture (OPJV) is a regional, self-directed partnership of government and non-governmental organizations and individuals working across administrative boundaries to deliver landscape-level planning and science-based conservation, linking on-the-ground management with national bird population goals.
OK Forestry Services Forest Stewardship Program
Oklahoma Forestry Services believes that with the right to own forested land comes a responsibility to maintain healthy well-managed forests. Oklahoma's Forest Stewardship Program provides free technical assistance to landowners to encourage and enable active long-term forest management. Participation in the program is open to any non-industrial private forest landowners who are committed to the active management and stewardship of their forested properties for at least ten years.
Oklahoma Prescribed Burn Association
Local burn associations around the state that solicit membership and assistance for prescribed burning.
A focus on research that will help farmers and ranchers improve land stewardship and productivity regionally, nationally, and internationally. Our approach considers all spectrums of agricultural research, including the basic, translational, and applied. We study the basic molecular and genetic levels of how plants grow and interact with the microbial world around them, develop stronger plants more tolerant to drought and resistant against diseases and pests, and evaluate how well cattle perform in various grazing systems. As well as technical assistance with prescribed burns and a wide variety of other aspects.
NRCS/Conservation Reserve Program (CRP)
CRP is a land conservation program administered by FSA. In exchange for a yearly rental payment, farmers enrolled in the program agree to remove environmentally sensitive land from agricultural production and plant species that will improve environmental health and quality.
NRCS/Conservation Stewardship Program (CSP)
Conservation Stewardship Program (CSP) helps you build on your existing conservation efforts while strengthening your operation.
NRCS/Cross Timbers Initiative (part of EQIP)
An allocation will be set aside to fund applications for restoring wildlife habitats indicative of the cross timbers ecoregion.
NRCS/Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP)
The Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP) provides financial and technical assistance to agricultural producers to address natural resource concerns and deliver environmental benefits such as improved water and air quality, conserved ground and surface water, increased soil health and reduced soil erosion and sedimentation, improved or created wildlife habitat, and mitigation against drought and increasing weather volatility.
The 2018 Farm Bill was enacted on December 20, 2018. The Farm Bill continues its strong support for conservation efforts of America’s farmers and ranchers through reauthorization and expanded the flexibility of NRCS conservation programs.
NRCS/Grassland Reserve Program (GRP)
The Grassland Reserve Program (GRP) is a voluntary conservation program that emphasizes support for working grazing operations, enhancement of plant and animal biodiversity, and protection of grassland under threat of conversion to other uses.
NRCS/Wetland Easement Program (WEP)
The Agricultural Conservation Easement Program (ACEP) helps landowners, land trusts, and other entities protect, restore, and enhance wetlands, grasslands, and working farms and ranches through conservation easements. Under the Agricultural Land Easements component, NRCS helps American Indian tribes, state and local governments and non-governmental organizations protect working agricultural lands and limit non-agricultural uses of the land. Under the Wetlands Reserve Easements component, NRCS helps to restore, protect, and enhance enrolled wetlands.
NRCS/Wetland Reserve Easements (WRE)
Wetland reserve easements allow landowners to successfully restore, enhance, and protect habitat for wildlife on their lands, reduce damage from flooding, recharge groundwater, and provide outdoor recreational and educational opportunities. Eligible landowners can choose to enroll in a permanent or 30-year easement.
NRCS/Wildlife Habitat Incentives Program (WHIP)
The Wildlife Habitat Incentives Program (WHIP) is a voluntary program designed to provide technical and financial assistance to landowners for the establishment and improvement of fish and wildlife habitat. Ranking criteria are used to select the applicants with a conservation plan that will create, enhance, or protect wildlife habitat by types of wildlife habitat.

The Partners Program provides technical and financial assistance for restoration and enhancement of fish and wildlife habitat on private lands, in partnership with other state and federal agencies and non-governmental organizations
